Blackhawk Partners with Elevation Air to Offer Professional Pilot Program

Blackhawk Technical College is set to launch a fast-track pilot program this fall in collaboration with Elevation Air.

This 21-month program is designed for students aiming for a career in professional aviation.  It’s open to new and returning college students, with additional opportunities for local high school students juniors and seniors.

The Professional Pilot Program includes a weekly ground school classroom course held at Blackhawk’s Central Campus coupled with flight training at Elevation Air at the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport in Janesville.

Students will dedicate approximately 20 hours per week to training, encompassing classroom study, flight training and after-school assignments. This schedule enables students to earn the necessary FAA certifications, including private pilot, instrument rating, commercial pilot and flight instructor certifications.

The program also includes state-of-the-art training equipment, featuring Cessna 172S Skyhawks and Beechcraft G58 Baron technologically advanced aircraft (TAA).  Students will also learn to fly in advanced aviation training devices (AATD’s) certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) with Garmin G1000NXi avionics system.

Upon completion of the Professional Pilot Program, graduates will possess the required certificates and skills to start building hours as flight instructors or in other commercial aviation roles.

“Blackhawk is excited to be a partner on this pathway toward a high-demand career field,” said Mark Borowicz, Blackhawk’s Director of Workforce & Community Development.
