Blackhawk Technical College is the recipient of YWCA Rock County’s 2022 Corporate Award of Merit, which recognizes businesses and organizations in Rock County that work to improve the quality of life in the community. Recipients of this award also serve as role models and support policies, practices and attitudes in the advancement of women.

Dr. Tracy Pierner, BTC President, and Dr. Karen Schmitt, Vice President of Academic Affairs, accepted the nomination Feb. 18 on behalf of the College.

“It’s an honor to receive this award from such an invaluable organization. This recognition reflects the hard work the Blackhawk team has done in the areas of inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility.  Although we have much more work to do to level the playing field for our diverse community, this award acknowledges we are on the right path,” Dr. Pierner said.

BTC continues to raise its presence in the region by actively serving Rock County’s educational, healthcare and workforce needs. The College also is invested in cultivating an on-campus culture of inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility through deliberate and ongoing work and continuous dialogue both inside and outside the classroom.

BTC will be among those honored during YWCA Rock County’s Women of Distinction Gala on May 11. The event raises funds for YWCA Rock County’s Transitions program.
