EPD Student Says Blackhawk Helped Him Complete His Goals

The ability to use alternative forms of learning, whether face-to-face, online or a combination of both, is what drew Drexel Norman to Blackhawk, and the training offered in the Electric Power Distribution (EPD) program is what will give him the opportunity to make a living in the career he desired.

The Janesville Parker graduate was drawn the EPD program because it enabled him to help his community by creating something that people rely on. With Blackhawk helping him complete his goals, Drexel knows he’s fortunate to be on the right path.

“Without Blackhawk, I would probably be working at a job I really didn’t want to do and be stuck in the same place,” he said.

Throughout the program, Drexel believes seeing how much safety plays a part in being a lineman has been the most essential thing he’s learned.

His instructor Mike Doubleday said that Drexel is very attentive and inquisitive, striving to learn all he can.

Drexel also recognizes that assistance is sometimes needed and would stress to students, both current and potential, to seek help if you need it.

“If you're struggling with something, ask for help because at Blackhawk there will be someone there to help you,” he said.

Graduating in the spring, Drexel plans to use the experience he’s gained in the real world.
